June 9, 2008: LG Electronics Debuts ‘Multi V’ Commrcial Air Conditioning Series
DOWNLOAD
New Models Incorporate State-of-the-Art Technology, Greater Convenience, Industry-Leading Efficiency and Low Noise Levels ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J, June 9, 2008 — LG Electronics, one of the world’s largest air conditioner manufacturers, today unveiled its new MULTI VTM series of commercial air conditioners. The new series launches the company’s extensive portfolio of applied commercial air conditioning products into the U.S. market, and features design flexibility, industry-leading efficiency, low noise levels and one of the longest refrigeration piping lengths available. “Launching our advanced MULTI V commercial air conditioning series into the U.S. market builds on LG Electronics' position as one of the world’s largest suppliers of commercial and residential air conditioner units,” said Steve Schmitt, Director, Commercial Air Conditioning, LG Electronics USA, Inc. “The new MULTI V series combines cuttingedge technology and the ultimate in flexibility to deliver innovative comfort solutions that meet the needs of a variety of commercial applications.”
ENERGY EFFICIENT VRF SYSTEM
LG’s new MULTI V uses a Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) heat recovery system that makes it possible to operate cooling and heating simultaneously using only one outdoor unit, serving both cost and energy efficiency needs. Built around LG’s inverter compressors, the MULTI V series delivers one of the highest EER ratings available in the VRF equipment category, along with low noise operation. The LG Inverter VRF systems use both a variable speed inverter compressor and constant speed compressor. Instead of shutting off once the desired temperature is reached, the inverter compressor continues to operate at a low speed to maintain that temperature, resulting in quieter operation and greater energy efficiency when compared to conventional models that cycle on and off. The constant speed compressor is utilized only when the overall capacity of the system needs to be increased. In the MULTI V Inverter System, serially arranged refrigerant pipes are connected to a single outdoor unit. This efficient system offers outstanding energy savings, with a wide variety of different types of indoor units, making it easy to design and install. The MULTI V System is especially suitable for hotels, hospitals and buildings where space-specific heating/cooling control is essential. LG’s outdoor units also incorporate a modular design that can easily be scaled to suit the needs of a particular building – from high-rise buildings, high-end hotels and luxury resort facilities to commercial buildings and condominium projects. The series offers BTU levels ranging from 38,000 to 192,000 to meet a variety of needs.
ATTRACTIVE INDOOR UNITS
With the new MULTI V series, LG also offers design-conscious indoor units that can compliment most any interior decor. With improved air flow innovations, the models offer industry leading low noise levels, providing a more pleasant and convenient indoor environment. The series features a broad range of indoor unit options to suit a variety of installation preferences, including the popular ART COOL picture frame system (which allows the end user to put a photograph in the unit), standard wall mounted, ceiling cassette, ceiling concealed duct, ceiling suspended and floor standing models. LG’s Plasma Air Purifying System is equipped on some indoor models as standard, which filters the air to reduce air impurities – such as dust, mold, pollen, pet fur and cigarette smoke – through a multi-stage process, offering users a healthier living environment. Other noteworthy features
include total piping lengths over 3,000 ft., branch-to-branch piping up to 295 ft., automatic system refrigerant leak monitoring, automatic refrigerant charging, as well as compatibility to BACnetTM and LonWorks® building network systems. The new MULTI V air conditioner series will be available in mid-2008.

New Four-Door Model Enhances Convenience, Organization in the Kitchen
CHICAGO, April 11, 2008 — LG Electronics brought elevated distinctive styling and innovative features to its newly redesigned refrigerator line, enabling the design- conscious consumer to enhance the overall look of their kitchen. The new 2008 line – including the company’s first four-door French-door refrigerator – now includes the tallest water dispenser with ice available, symmetrically contoured doors, hidden hinges and curved handles for a refined look.
LG’s new four-door refrigerator, unveiled at the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show in Chicago, April 11-13, gives consumers the easy accessibility of a French-door refrigerator with the organized storage space of two bottom-mount freezer drawers. Consumers can keep everyday frozen items in the top, readily-accessible freezer drawer while storing other, larger foods, in the bottom drawer.
Four in 10 Americans find it difficult to organize their refrigerators, and nearly a quarter describe their refrigerators as “chaotic,” according to consumer research commissioned last month by LG Electronics. The LG Four-Door Refrigerator’s dual refrigerator doors and double drawer freezer compartments below offer consumers better organization and versatility of space.
“Our new four-door refrigerator offers consumers greater convenience and enhanced organization from the most important kitchen appliance,” said John Herrington, president of Digital Appliances, LG Electronics USA, Inc.
“It allows consumers to have the style and design they crave in a French-door refrigerator, while also benefiting from the additional organization and storage options the second freezer drawer provides.”
Key features of four-door refrigerator include:
-
Extra tall vertical ice and water dispenser: Measuring nearly a foot high, it can easily accommodate larger bottles, pitchers and coffee pots.
-
NuView™ LED interior lighting: LG’s LED lighting adds to the sophisticated look of the interior. With recessed lights, consumers can easily place items on the top shelves without dodging the light fixture.
-
SpacePlus™: In-door filtered ice and water system frees up valuable space in the refrigerator providing consumers with more usable capacity and an uncluttered interior.
-
SecureSeal™ door sealing system: SecureSeal system’s powerful magnets and rubber gaskets ensure an airtight seal.
-
SmoothTouch™ dispenser controls: Touch sensitive controls allow users to select dispensing options and manage temperatures with an effortless touch of a finger. The attractive display also monitors the set temperature for the refrigerator and freezer compartments.
This refrigerator will be available in late May 2008 in a 25 cu. ft. capacity standard-depth model and a 21 cu. ft. counter-depth model for consumers who prefer a built-in look; manufacturer’s suggested retail prices are $3,199 and $3,499, respectively.
French-Door
LG continues to expand its French-door refrigerator line, which represents the broadest three-door offering in the U.S. market, and includes multiple sizes with a variety of options – all with a beautifully redesigned interior. The updated line of refrigerators features the extra tall vertical ice and water dispenser and SpacePlus™ ice system. The water dispenser also features a faster flow rate than previous models.
The newly styled LG French-door refrigerators will be available in the second quarter of 2008. The 36-inch width in stainless steel will be offered at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price ranging from $2,799 to $3,099 depending on the depth, and the 33-inch width model pricing ranges from $2,199 to $2,499, depending on the exterior finish.
Side-by-Side
LG’s Side-by-Side Refrigerators boast an elegant new design with a sophisticated handle shape created for sleek, modern kitchens. All new side-by-side models will be available in the second quarter of 2008. Manufacturer’s suggested retail prices will range from $1,199 to $1,699, depending on the finish and features.

New Cooking Appliances Incorporate Award-Winning Features, Sophisticated Design
CHICAGO, April 11, 2008 — LG Electronics continued its expansion into upscale kitchens with its new kitchen portfolio that includes the company’s first built-in ovens and cooktops. Bringing its award-winning design to consumers desiring built-in appliances, the new additions will be on display at the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show in Chicago, April 11-13. “In true LG fashion, we are weaving award-winning design with technology to craft beautifully styled built-in ovens and cooktops that complement our current offerings,” said John Herrington, president of Digital Appliances, LG Electronics USA, Inc. “Our new cooking appliances appeal to those culinary enthusiasts with high-end kitchens who seek powerful performance and a sleek, contemporary look.”
Built-In Wall Ovens
The company’s first built-in wall ovens, including single and double oven options, feature a unique 7-inch touch screen control system that brings the LCD technology LG is known for throughout the house into the kitchen. This intuitive display renders knobs and buttons obsolete adding to cooking and clean-up convenience. Consumers can control all cycles and cooking options – from setting temperatures, monitoring cooking time and more – all with the touch of a finger.
These ovens’ recipe bank, pre-loaded with 100 gourmet recipes across ten food categories, can help turn anyone into a chef. With 45 of these recipes pre-programmed, cooks can simply select the recipe they desire and the oven will automatically set to the precise cooking cycle needed. With one of the largest capacities available at 4.7 cu. ft, each oven accommodates more dishes – making meal preparation easier when cooking for the family or when entertaining. The LG exclusive convection system enables up to 30 percent faster preheat times and more even heat distribution. The ovens are designed in a stainless steel finish with a brilliant blue interior cavity that adds to its elegant look. The full-line of LG built-in ovens will be available at retailers in the fourth quarter of 2008. The double oven (Model: LWD3081ST) will be available at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $3,399 and the single oven (LWS3081ST) will be available for $2,199.
Cooktops
Also new for 2008 is a variety of cooktops which offer stylish designs and enhanced functionality. The LG Electric Induction Cooktop combines high performance with a smooth look. The cooktop delivers even heating, boasts superior safety features and offers added energy savings by utilizing electromagnetic energy generated by an induction coil. With electromagnetic energy, pots are heated quickly, but the cooking surface stays cool to the touch. The LG Induction Cooktop incorporates ceramic, glass, premium stainless steel trim and LG’s elegantly styled SmoothTouchTM controls, which gives it a sophisticated look and feel. This model (Model: LCE30845) is available now at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $2,099.
In addition to its induction cooktop model, LG will add radiant electric cooktops to its line up in the fourth quarter of 2008. These new models also offer a sleek, seamless design that would complement any kitchen décor. Design extras such as SmoothTouch controls add greater convenience, enabling users to easily activate and control the temperature settings with the touch of a finger. LG’s linear control technology enables cooking consistency and control. Constant heat – rather than cycled heat as on traditional electric cooktops – ensures the set temperature
remains consistent and steady throughout the cooking process. The 30-inch size (Model: LCE3081ST) will be available at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $1,199 and the 36-inch size (Model: LCE3681ST) for $1,399.

April 11, 2008: LG Electronics Upgrades Steam Laundry Portfolio
DOWNLOAD
| New Laundry Pair Combines Stunning Design, Ultra-Large Capacity, Powerful Performance CHICAGO, April 11, 2008 — LG Electronics, the U.S. market share leader in frontload laundry systems, unveiled a distinctively designed, high-end washer and dryer that combines the largest washing capacity with the company’s award-winning steam technology. With its variety of clothing care options, the washer and dryer will be the highlight of LG’s expanding laundry collection at the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show in Chicago, April 11-13. “LG’s new steam washer and dryer is perfect for consumers who want the finest in frontload laundry,” said John Herrington, president of Digital Appliances, LG Electronics USA, Inc. “From a stunning design to innovative features, it will be showcased in prominent areas in the home and helps consumers take the best care of their clothes. This eye-catching appliance features a new and sophisticated exterior design with a large square door visually emphasizing the increased capacity. Consumers will enjoy the extralarge door opening which makes it easier to access, load and remove clothing. The door opening measures nearly 17 inches wide – more than one inch wider than any leading competitor. LG’s new washer also features highly styled controls with a tri-lingual blue LCD display and ergonomically designed Dial-A-Cycle™, which allows consumers to easily select from nine washing programs. With 4.5 cu.ft. capacity, the newly designed SteamWasher saves consumers a significant amount of time and energy; and boasts a number of advanced clothing care options as well, including: |
• TrueSteam™ Technology: Utilizes LG’s TrueSteam generator to produce real steam in the wash tub. Powerful but gentle steam penetrates fabrics for enhanced cleaning performance – whites are whiter and colors more vibrant. Steam also helps lift out and remove stubborn stains with out pre-treating.
• Allergen-Reduction Cycle: LG’s exclusive Allergiene™ cycle is designed to reduce common allergens such as dust mites and pet dander on fabrics.
• SteamWash™ Option: Offers superior cleaning by adding steam to certain cycles while being gentle on clothing.
• SteamFresh™: Removes wrinkles and reduces odors on dry clothing during a 20- minute cycle by using steam, rather than water or detergent.
• Wash/Rinse Optimizer™: Monitors a variety of factors – including detergent levels, water hardness, temperature and water level – and automatically adjusts the settings to provide optimal washing and rinsing using a new sensing technology; resulting in outstanding wash performance along with superior rinsing performance.
• Energy-Efficient: LG’s SteamWashers are Energy Star rated and can save over 7,700 gallons of water per year as compared to non-Energy Star washing machines. |
|
LG’s SteamWashers are also proven to save over 260 kWh per year. Both resulting in a savings of $694 - $723 over the average life of the machine (or $63 - $66 per year). LG’s new laundry pair is also equipped with two features designed to lower noise and vibration. The enhanced anti-vibration system diminishes noise by reducing vibration in three directions – up and down, side to side and front to back. The washer is also equipped with a direct drive motor, which operates without belts or pulleys, and delivers power directly from the motor to the drum, further reducing sound and vibration, while increasing energy savings. These systems make the pair an ideal solution for the second floor of the home. The washer’s spin speed of 1,320 RPMs – the maximum available from LG – helps to extract water from clothing for better drying efficiencies, while still offering a quiet operation.
LG’s newly designed SteamDryer™ utilizes the company’s TrueSteam technology to produce real steam; and offers powerful performance and clothing care options for consumers including: |
• SteamSanitary™: This unique feature quickly sanitizes dry clothing and other items such as blankets, towels, pillows and bedding.
• SteamFresh™: Reduces wrinkles and freshens clothing in a large load of garments; also works for bulky items such as comforters. Items come out completely dry and ready to wear after the cycle is complete.
• ReduceStaticTM: Neutralizes static electricity in normal loads by introducing steam during the final five minutes of the drying cycle.
• EasyIronTM: Evenly and lightly moistens the dryer load prior to the end of the cycle making the ironing process easier and more efficient. Its extra-large capacity of 7.4 cu. ft. provides more convenience as larger loads can now be done. Like the washer, it features a sleek exterior design with a larger square door for easy access. |
|
The new washer and dryer will be available in the third quarter of 2008 in a variety of finishes. Manufacturer’s suggested retail prices are $1,699 for the washer (Model: WM3001HWMA) and $1,499 for the dryer (Model: DLEX3001WM – electric or DLGX3002WM - gas).

Elegant Design and New Features Mean Added Convenience for Consumers CHICAGO, April 11, 2008 — LG Electronics’ new line of stylish kitchen appliances includes a unique over-the-range (OTR) microwave oven with an innovative warming lamp that ensures optimal mealtime temperature without compromising capacity; new semi- and fully-integrated dishwasher models; and a new electric range. LG’s entire elegant and
distinctive appliance portfolio will be on display at the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show in Chicago, April 11-13. “Kitchens are the hub of the home and consumers are looking for appliances they can display with pride for years to come,” said John Herrington, president of Digital Appliances, LG Electronics USA, Inc. “From dishwasher innovations to new microwaves, our growing line of kitchen appliances combines industry-leading features with LG’s award-winning design, helping to transform ordinary kitchens into upscale showrooms.” Over-the-Range Microwave Oven with Warming Lamp Technology Conventional microwaves have been limited to reheating or warming foods using microwave technology. With LG’s new microwave oven with warming lamp technology, consumers have a convenient way to keep food warm without relying on a conventional oven or a traditional warming drawer underneath the oven. The new OTR’s warming mode can be set at a pre-determined temperature for up to 90 minutes, keeping food warm by using a radiant heat source – not microwave technology.
Besides offering increased functionality, the OTR microwave oven is also attractively designed. With its unique monitor styling, controls are placed at the bottom of the door for an elegant look and easy eye-level access. The hidden venting system completes the polished design.
Additional performance features include: |
• Glide & SpinTM: This combination sliding tray and turntable moves side to side and spins, ensuring food is evenly cooked. The sliding tray can be used for large casserole dishes up to 15 inches long, and the tray and turntable for dishes smaller than 12 inches.
• Extra-large capacity of 2.0 cu. ft.
• Sensor CookTM: Humidity sensing technology determines when food is cooked and automatically turns the unit off.
• 300 Cubic Foot Per Minute (CFM) venting system: Makes cooking more pleasant by helping to quickly remove smoke and food odors. The microwave (Model: LMVM2085) will be available in May 2008 at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price ranging from $459 for smooth white and black finishes to $529 for stainless steel. |
|
Dishwasher Innovations
LG Electronics is also expanding its stylish dishwasher line to include more options at multiple price points that suit a wide variety of consumer needs. With a discreet control panel design, LG’s Semi-Integrated Dishwasher features a visible digital status display on the door’s handsome exterior. The new Fully-Integrated Dishwasher features a control panel with hidden controls on the top of the door for a sleek, clean design. As with all LG appliances, the two dishwashers are energy-efficient, low in water consumption and quiet during operation.
Both models boast high-performance features such as: |
• Capacity: The extra-large stainless steel tub cleans up to 16 place settings in a single load (as compared to many models which accommodate 12 to 14 place settings). Its Slim Direct Motor™ design allows for one of the largest usable capacities available.
• Hybrid Condensing Drying System™: A highly efficient drying process for reduced spotting and better energy efficiency.
• LoDecibel™ Quiet Operation: At 52 decibels, the dishwashers are among the quietest available with a built-in food disposer and self cleaning filter.
• SenseClean™: This washing system automatically measures the turbidity of the water during the first rinse in order to optimize water usage and adjust wash time based on the need for more or less cleaning.
• Cycles: Features a variety of cycles and settings to suit many wash needs – from baked-on goods to stemware; LG’s fully-integrated model offers five wash cycles (Power Scrub, Normal, Delicate, Rinse Only and Top Rack Rinse Only) plus four options (Sanitary Rinse, Extra Rinse, Delay Start and Child Lock), while the semi-integrated dishwashers feature four wash cycles (Power Scrub, Normal, Quick Cycle and Rinse Only) plus three options (Sanitary Rinse, Extra Rinse and Child Lock).
• Delay Wash: This option offers users the convenience of delaying the start of a wash cycle by up to 12 hours (fully-integrated model only). |
|
LG’s New Semi-Integrated Dishwasher (Model: LDS4821) will be available in May 2008 in white, black and stainless steel finishes at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price ranging from $649 to $749. The fully-integrated model (Model: LDF6920) will be available in May 2008 in white, black and stainless steel finishes at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price ranging from $749 to $849.

• Dual Convection: Two fans combined with two built-in heating elements provide a faster preheat time with the added benefits of even heat distribution for overall uniform baking and roasting.
• Touch Controls: No knobs means cleaning is practically effortless with the innovative flat panel controls which are attractive and easy to use. These models will be available second quarter of 2008 at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price ranging from $949 to $1,599 in a variety of finishes. |
