With three children under the age of five, it’s rare for Stacey Ferguson to have a moment to herself, but Go Red BetterU came at just the right time.
“Now that I’ve had all my children, I really want to focus on me, get in shape and do it with other women on the way.”
Like a lot of women, Stacey wants to get back to her pre-pregnancy weight and is modifying her current fitness routine to accomplish her goals.
“I started spinning, so I’m trying to be more active. My goal is to lose some weight this year. I’ve also committed to taking vitamins every day. And I cut out fried and fast food.”
Stacey’s grandmother had both lupus and diabetes. Sickle cell anemia and high blood pressure also run in her extended family. Fortunately, Stacey’s never had any major health concerns or had to take any medication. Her only real task is channeling her motivation.
“I wish I loved to exercise instead of it being a chore. I don’t feel my health prohibits me from doing any activity, but I want the energy to do more. I especially love dancing and bike riding.”
In addition to blogging and twittering up a storm, Stacey enjoys cooking Caribbean and Italian food. Entertaining comes naturally to her but first in her life will always be her husband and children.
“I want to be around for my kids, husband and family for a long time, so it’s time I set a good example. I know heart disease is the No. 1 killer in women, but I don’t know the symptoms or prevention.”
Thanks to Stacey’s ambitious attitude and already healthy start, she’s making huge strides but taking it step by step.
“I want to work out four times a week, but I also just want to walk the stairs without getting winded.” |
